For the re launch of the HUANG YAN CONTEMPORARY ART CENTER , formerly known as Beijing Studio 1 , we are happy to announce a collaborative effort with the:artist:network New York. In creating a series of consecutive curatorials leading up to the commencement of the Olympic games later this year, we have conceived of the inaugurate show “CRITICAL MASS” as a part survey, part cross section of CONTEMPORARY work produced in Beijing today. “CRITICAL MASS” traces the emerging silhouette of the creative landscape in Beijing with focus on the inner mechanisms and networks of the artistic body as a whole . Unlike an individual curatorial vision, “CRITICAL MASS” presents a collective process of selection.
