the:artist:networknew york is pleased to introduce aleksandra signer's distinctive video and photographic work to the american public. after immigrating from zakopane poland in 1977,aleksandra signermarries swiss sculptor roman signer, and moves to st.gallen switzerland. her first video works surface in 1993 as documentary platforms for her husband's events and performances art pieces.

for this documentary work, she receives great attention. in 1995, she is awarded the"bankverein-videokunstpreis" for her independent work "(T) rain grande vitess"shown at thebasel art 26'95, work grants and solo exhibitions follow.
